Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about our pickups, purchasing, returns and pickups in general.

FAQ

Our pickups

Q: When are you available to make the next batch of pickups?

A: Check the batch schedule page to find out when your order will be fulfilled. Any orders make within the dates on the schedule will be fulfilled within 7 to 10 days of ordering, order made outside those dates will be fulfilled within the first 7 to 10 days of the next batch.

Q: Do you take credit cards?

A: No, not any more. The process the website host used took too long for the money to come through and affected our ability to purchase parts immediately. We now accept PayPal or bank transfers.

Q: How long does it take before I get my pickups?

A: We aim to process your order and have it in the post within a week of ordering. All pickups are made to order. We do not have stock, so once your payment is made, your parts are ordered. We order twice a week from our suppliers on Monday and Thursday.

Q: Are your vintage spec pickups actually to spec?

A: Yes... and no. We do try to source parts and materials to make the pickups we make period correct. The research that goes into each pickup is done exhaustively to bring together the facts that we can glean about each item. It's also known that some pickups back in the day were totally random. For example an original Gibson PAF was such a wild card, you didn't know which magnets would be used, they just threw in what was available, so in cases like this we've gone for what sounds best or what constituted the majority.

Q: Do you do custom work?

A: Yes! Just drop us a message on our contact page and we will see what we can make for you to your specification. Sign up to our mailing list to get updates about new products and projects.

Q: Are all your pickups wax potted?

A: No

When buying vintage spec pickups some companies will go with a more modern magnet or wax pot their pickups to bring them up to date. This is to be able to handle high gain rigs that are more prevalent today. But we've tried to remain faithful to the original specs so that you can get the authentic experience of buying an original spec pickup from that era.

Q: Can you wax pot non-wax potted pickups?

A: Absolutely, just tell us in a note when purchasing and we can do that for you in the build process. It doesn't cost any more, just let us know. Check the specs on each pickup before you buy.

Q: Do you do rewinds?

A: Yes! Please send an email with your enquiry. Prices start from £30 for single coil pickups and £50 for humbuckers.

Q: My pickup doesn't work or has ceased to work. Can you fix it?

A: Yes we can! All of our pickups come with a lifetime guarantee to the original owner. See our T's & C's for more info.

Q: How do I make payments?

A: You can pay via PayPal or bank transfer.

Q: Can I try before I buy.

A: If you are local, probably, otherwise, no.
